I decided the yoto because I felt like tonies wwere very expensive and easy to lose, and are not backed up in the cloud whereas the yoto cards are. Also I feel it will last longer whereas the tonies toys will be a bit childish for an older child.
The cards take up way less space than Tonie figures. Yoto leaves off where you were listening too last vs Tonie that starts at the beginning.
